Beauty tip #1: Wear glasses so huge they cover your entire face.

No, my account has not been hacked. I am actually posting about beauty & wellness on Bake and Destroy, and it’s probably not the last time. If you noticed a decline in cupcake recipes in 2014 it wasn’t because I lost my love for sweets and treats. But after nearly dying in 2013, I spent this last year doing everything I could to heal my body and reclaim my healthy hair and skin.

Long story short, I was hospitalized with blood clots in my lungs in November of 2013. I spent about 8 months on a heavy dose of blood thinners, and now I am banned from taking any hormonal medications ( yep, including birth control – sucks). This drastic change in my health affected everything in my life – I gained weight, I chopped off all my dry, unhealthy hair, my skin went crazy… I spent most of 2014 making small changes here and there, experimenting with different holistic treatments for things, seeking out natural products that are safe for me to use.

I figured I’d start posting some of my DIY remedies, products picks and things of that sort here. There will still be recipes, of course, I promise that along with my favorite smoothies and juices you will still find cookies, cupcakes, tacos, and all the things that brought you here in the first place.

It’s a departure from the usual, so bear with me. My first post is going to be pretty personal – how I fought and won my battle against hormonal acne. Spoiler alert: I did it with all natural, vegan products that anyone can buy on the internet.
