I’m very excited to tell you guys that I’ve teamed up with Lucky Cupcake Hairclips to create these limited edition Bake and Destroy hair clips benefitting Grind for Life! Lucky Cupcake is the only shop aside from my own where you’ll find official Bake and Destroy items and Joy is donating $2 from every bow sold to my favorite non-profit in honor of my birthday wish to raise $1000 for Grind for Life.
As cute as these are clipped in your hair, I also use Lucky Cupcake Hairclips to cute up my purses and headbands – I even clip them onto the straps of my tank tops. For more inspiration, check out the Lucky Cupcake Facebook fan page.

I hope you all have a relaxing Thanksgiving week end! Still looking for recipes? I pulled together some of my favorites here. And don’t forget to enter my whoopie pie giveaway! XOXO
Do you know how much of the donations make it to the patients and how much goes to overhead and operating expenses? I looked through their website and couldn’t find that info any where. Thanks!
Hi Beka! I asked Mike Rogers to send me the info so I can share it with you!
Hi again Beka. I received a very transparent email from Jill Gresko,
Executive Director of Grind for Life with a break down of the money the organization earns and how it’s spent. In a nutshell, 42% of the funds they raise are spent directly on their mission – so that goes right to cancer patients, their families and to sending care packages to people with cancer. Other funds raised go toward paying rent on two buildings – the thrift store in FL, sales from which the three-person admin staff’s modest salaries are paid, and their office. Other admin expenses include producing merchandise (t-shirts, skate decks, etc, that spread the word about GFL – these items are also included in the care packages they send,) booths at various events, skateboard contest prizes, etc.
I did some cross reference with other well-known organizations like American Cancer Society and I feel comfortable that Grind For Life is using their donation money responsibly. It helps, of course, that they gave funds directly to two people I know.
I hope that helps!
Ok, that sounds pretty good. Thanks for getting this info, I appreciate it!
Love you, Natalie. My thoughts are with you.
