So, earlier this week I got a SodaStream and I’ve been bragging all week about how awesome it is. As a kid I wasn’t really allowed to drink soda (or, as we call it in the Midwest, “pop”) so I’ve been making up for lost time as an adult. I know most conventional sodas are total garbage – high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and other weirdness – so I spend extra money on natural sodas and carbonated juices. Even though those are “natural,” they still come in disposable packaging, which riles up my eco-rage.
Sure, you can recycle those glass and plastic bottles and cans – but consuming those disposables just tells the companies making our food and drinks that it’s fine to keep manufacturing virgin plastics and aluminum cans because we’ll pick up their slack by recycling it all. I could bitch all day.
So far I’ve tried all the fruit flavors (lemon-lime, apple mango, orange pineapple and grapefruit) as well as the flavors we all know and love a Dr. Pepper knock-off, root beer, cream soda and ginger ale. If you’re a cola drinker it might be a little weird getting used to a new cola, but most of the other flavors are pretty true to the original but without all the chemical nasties and disposable bottles and cans. Anyway, I really like it. Check out my video to see how it works.
that thing is pretty neat! i may buy one & start drinking sodas again. great video!
I never knew these existed. Now I am coveting yours… which model is it by the way 🙂 So I can covet with accuracy 😉
This is the Genisus model. 🙂
We have one and love it! Just be careful with the shipping when you order replacement CO2 canisters. It can be expensive, but there are retail locations where you can exchange them. We haven’t explored that option yet but suspect it will be cheaper.
I agree, they are pretty awesome things.
I have spent maybe 10 years of my whole life without one, I grew up with one in the family, then finally bought my very own a year or 2 ago, loove it! its awesome to recycle the bottle over and over, and the flavors are not too bad!
I wish we had the fake dr pepper here though, i guess considering they do not sell actual dr pepper on the shelves, is reason not to even sell fake syrup..pft.
enjoy it.
xx
I ordered the Fountain Jet for my husband for Christmas… he is always adding juice or something to his Sprite, so I figured he would love this. What I’m wondering is, how long does a 60L tank really last? One of the features of the FJ is that you can use the 130L tank with it as well… I’m wondering if I should pick one up in that size to have on hand, or if the 60L will last us a while. I saw that Bed, Bath and Beyond carries the tanks & does 60L exchanges, btw.
